There’s no one quite like Johanna Juhola; her compositions blend the parallel worlds of Argentinian and Finnish tango, following the latter’s path into the melancholic soul of Finnish folk, emerging into the sunlight with uplifting flirtations with pop music and innovative excursions into electronica.

A well-known persona on the Finnish music scene, she is joined by artistic producer, musician, composer and arranger Timo Alakotila on the fourth prom of the BBC Proms Dubai 2019.

Timo Alakotila is one of Finland’s busiest, most versatile and most in-demand musicians, as composer, arranger, pianist and harmonium player in folk, classical, jazz and pop fields. His career began in 1982 in Kaustinen, Finland as harmonium player and founder member of the fiddle group JPP, who quickly established themselves as the best and most innovative fiddle music group in Finland. In 2009 the Timo Alakotila & Johanna Juhola Duo released their widely acclaimed album Vapaassa Tilassa, and more recently Juhola participated in Timo Alakotila´s ‘Concerto for Free-Bass Accordion and Chamber Orchestra’.
